Praxis changed everything

With the signing of the Khitomer Accords, the United Federation of Planets and her greatest adversary, the Klingon Empire, found themselves in an uneasy peace.

The year is 2295.

In the two years since the signing of the Accords the Federation Council has tasked Starfleet Command with revamping the Beta Quadrant Exploration program. The USS Hecate, one of the first Excelsior Refit vessels in the fleet will embark on a five year exploration mission beyond the Klingon and Romulan Empires. Penetrating the furthest reaches of the Beta Quadrant, her name is destined to be drawn in the same breath as Excelsior, Enterprise and other storied ships of Starfleet’s history.

Take a look around. If you like what you see, fill out an application form. Should you not see a position you want on the manifest, please contact us.

On behalf of the staff and crew of the USS Hecate, welcome! Join us and discover the Federation’s Golden Age!

Crew!

The Hecate is slowly coming out of her hibernation.

With work now calming down, I'll slowly be getting to grips with moving the Hecate along this week.

The aim is to get Shakedown finished before the end of the year so we can begin 2025 by getting our exploratory voyage well under way.

Please keep an eye out for tags and updates!

Crew!

It's a little early here, but I wanted to wish you all a Happy New Year.

I'd also like to thank you on making 2023 a very successful year for the Hecate.

This sim is an idea I'd been working on for a while before committing it to paper so to speak, and I'm gratified and humbled that you'd all contribute your considerable talents to getting her off the ground.

Here's to 2024 and another successful year for the Hecate!

Crew!

My sincere thanks on a job well-done in September.

You hard work earned the Hecate the Silver Unit of Distinction for the month.

Our XO, Khiane Mau, written by StarGeek, earned the Writer of the Month award.

The Hecate also earned an Award of Merit for September for 23-C.

In the quarterly awards we also earned CO of the Quarter too - an award reflective of the good work of the crew!

Here's to many more in the coming years!

Mission: EPISODE 1: SHAKEDOWN
Posted on Sun Sep 14th, 2025 @ 8:05pm by Lieutenant JG Maël "Gideon" Beauregard & Captain Robert Burke

Deck Fifteen curved like a long drawn-out river--if it were possible for geographic features to form perfect right angles in segments. Its corridors were wide and bright, perfect for games, long strides, and for the business of burning-off energy between duty shifts. The air was cool but not entirely forgiving, each breath Gideon dragged in carrying a faint tang of recycled ions and the cleanser the maintenance personnel used. He was drenched through already, his grey undershirt clinging dark to his chest, his boots leaving a staccato of thuds against the deck. It was the rhythm of a man in…

[And now the continuation ...]

Nelar then scanned the Bridge for the Captain. When it was apparent that he was on deck, she addressed who she assumed was the Conn officer on shift.

“Lieutenants Nelar and Beauregard reporting for duty. I believe we were both asked to report directly to Captain Burke.”

"The Captain is expecting you both in his ready room," Hunt spoke while pointing to the door.

Gideon gave Hunt a warm, grateful nod. “Thank you, Lieutenant,” he said with a courteous smile.

He glanced sidelong at Nelar, a gleam in his eyes. “You got your polite…

::ON::

Few serving Starfleet officers had been privileged enough to see the Qo’noS bathed in the orange light of its primary star (Type K1 IV // Bright, Orange, Sub-giant as Burke recalled the designation from endless Academy lectures), but the crew of the Hecate were now amongst them.

Their convoy, battered by Orion battleships and raiders, the buffeting of radiation storms, and the hazards of crossing the theoretically non-existent border with the Klingon Empire, had made it, now flanked by a motley assortment of Klingon vessels. Burk stood in the center well of the Bridge, looking on through the viewscreen…

OLD:

"Sure... I guess." Vin replied, looking back to her with a smile. "I learned a lot from my brother. He would say: 'Keep your eyes and ears open, V. Just because I'm not teaching you, it doesn't mean you shouldn't be learning.' He said, bringing his voice down to a slightly raspy tone, mimicking his brother as best he could. After wards, he laughed slightly, smiling as he placed his hands together on the table. "When we were kids, I am sure, he was trying to teach me about Brotherly Love. About loyalty and being willing to hurt yourself…

Mission: EPISODE 1: SHAKEDOWN

ON:

It had been a few days since Vin had hosted his party and Gia had bowed out of it, the Klingon bloodwine having not agreed with her, and even the chat they'd had the day afterward was polite enough that she had an interest in getting to know him a bit better outside of being on duty. There wasn't anything wrong with that, right?

Her shift had ended half an hour beforehand and she relaxed on the sofa for a while. "Computer, locate Commander Salvatore," she said in a nonchalant tone as she watched the stars go by outside…
