A Golden Age Sim

Praxis changed everything

With the signing of the Khitomer Accords, the United Federation of Planets and her greatest adversary, the Klingon Empire, found themselves in an uneasy peace.

The year is 2295.

In the two years since the signing of the Accords the Federation Council has tasked Starfleet Command with revamping the Beta Quadrant Exploration program. The USS Hecate, one of the first Excelsior Refit vessels in the fleet will embark on a five year exploration mission beyond the Klingon and Romulan Empires. Penetrating the furthest reaches of the Beta Quadrant, her name is destined to be drawn in the same breath as Excelsior, Enterprise and other storied ships of Starfleet’s history.

Take a look around. If you like what you see, fill out an application form. Should you not see a position you want on the manifest, please contact us.

On behalf of the staff and crew of the USS Hecate, welcome! Join us and discover the Federation’s Golden Age!

» August Update

Posted on Mon Aug 7th, 2023 @ 2:40am by Captain Robert Burke in General News

Crew!

Firstly, I would like to add my sincere thanks for your excellent contributions in July - collectively it was the best month the Hecate has had, and I'm sure it reflects a bright future for the sim as the Hecate charts the way to the 24th Century.

In happy news, we welcomed a new member to our sim, Lieutenant JG Austin Faust, who has made a stellar contribution in his first month aboard.

Unfortunately in sadder news, we had to bid farewell to our Executive Officer Vesna whose writer isn't experiencing the Trek sim itch at the moment. An ad will go out shortly on Discord sites for the open position.

Moving forward, I'm hoping we can finish the Launch post I've just started for us during the month of August. In addition there are several NPCs from the manifest you may want to interact with - particularly our Vulcan Medical Officer as we should all really get medically certified for our voyage.

I also encourage you to interact with your fellow crewmembers to begin building those relationships and antagonisms that make a story tick!

As it is August, I'm aware that most of us will be busy, so posting restrictions will be eased, particularly as I'll be out of the country from the 17th to 22nd of August and won't be able to move our story forward.

Here's to another successful month for the Hecate!

Live long and prosper -

» May Award

Crew!

I'm grateful to be able to say that in Hecate's first official active month we netted ourselves two awards!

The first was the Bronze award for Unit of Distinction, and the second was the Task Group Award of Merit.

I can't say how delighted I am at this positive start to the sim, and that I'm sure that it's an upward trajectory for us from here!

» Launch Date Approaching

Posted on Wed Jul 6th, 2022 @ 5:23am by Captain Robert Burke in Sim Announcement

Crew!

Some of you may have noted some changes around the sim site over the last few days.

With a change of job coming, my workload has changed so, with the help of some expert space wizards, we've managed to get the site up and running. There are still a few tweaks and additions to go through, but they should be smooth.

Over the next week or so, I'll open the first mission, Shakedown, and we can get Hecate underway to adventure. Once we're underway, we'll set up a Discord server for the sim as well.

In preparation for launch, please check over your character bios for any revisions you may want to make, or additions of character portraits.

In the meantime, if you have any queries, please PM me or hit me up on Discord via the DM function.

Live long and prosper!

Closing the medicine cabinet, Burke looked at himself critically in the mirror above his washstand. Flexing his face this way and that he checked that his casual stubble was as ordered as he liked, and ran a hand across his close-shaven skull. He shrugged. It'll do, he thought, reckoning…

Vesna wasn't late, but she was later than she liked being. She had a call home, and then suddenly, it was ten minutes to meeting time (and past the kids bedtimes).

She walked in, and noticed the conversation already ongoing. She nodded her greeting to Burke, and turned to…
